Project overview:

This project is located in the green belt, deep within the Hertfordshire countryside. On the site previously was a small hay barn.

The aim of the build was to create a home for all generations, adopting many of the 'Lifetime Home' principles. The design includes level thresholds, open plan living spaces, toilet facilities at ground level, two bedrooms and a bathroom.

An existing barn was dismantled carefully, allowing for the re-use and up-cycle of many of the materials on the proposed new build.

Budget was a big consideration and the project took 15 months on site and was fully self-built.

The project is now complete and was photographed ahead of a magazine feature in October 2020.
